Welp, the Texans held on.
19-17 was the final score in Denver this afternoon as Deshaun Watson led his team with 213 yards, a pair of touchdowns and a turnover-free game. Everyone pinned this as a Demariyus game but it was Hopkins being Hopkins as usual. He racked up 105 yards on 10 receptions and made Denver’s secondary scheme look silly.
On the other side of ball Case Keenum threw the ball 42 times. Which, is enough said if you ask me. The Broncos weren’t able to capitalize with touchdowns for most of the game and that was the story. Capitalizing in favorable field position, one team did and one team didn’t.
This takes Houston to 6-3, winners of 6 straight. For a team that started 0-3, the Texans have had quite the turnaround. With the sudden incompetence of the Jaguars, Houston finds themselves the favorite to win the AFC South. Watson has been the key. He’s stopped his Jameis impersonation and cut down his weekly turnovers. The defense has continued to show improvement week by week and those two factors are instant keys to success in the NFL.
The Texans now enter a bye week after turning around their whole season. They come back to face the Redskins in another easily winnable game for them.
Rumble Texans rumble.
