What does it take to get fired when you have a job as an offensive coordinator a mile high? Six straight losses and a GM dodging a “soft” controversy.
Reported first by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport (man that guy has incredible access) the Denver Broncos have fired offensive coordinator Mike McCoy.
Bill Musgrave is now wearing the infamous “interim” label according to head coach Vance Joseph.
Is this the right call for a team that is underachieving while just a few short years removed from Super Bowl glory? Perhaps, perhaps not. But when your team is stinking up the house and you’re the man holding the reigns you tend to make moves. If you don’t the spot light gets turned on you and regardless of what you did yesterday this is a “what have you done for me today” league. Ergo GM John Elway and his choice for head coach Vance Joseph are all on board with the “difficult decision.”
“… made the difficult decision to part ways with Mike McCoy,” – Broncos HC Vance Joseph
No word on who gets fired if the Broncos lose their next six.
