Chad Kelly is Broncos QB2

Chad Kelly Broncos

Denver Broncos Head Coach Vance Joseph verbalized what was already obvious after Chad Kelly (again) outplayed former first-round draft pick Paxton Lynch in the first preseason game and then was seen running the second-string offense in practice.

“So, right now, Chad is our backup.” – Broncos HC Vance Joseph

Coach Joseph was blase in his descriptors and for good reason. It was obvious to everyone that Kelly is the better player. A couple days ago, post game, Vance was still clinging to a Paxton ray-of-hope as he refused to anoint Kelly the QB2 when asked, instead preferring to utter “We’ll see. We’ll watch the tape and see where we are.” Well, they have and they did. End of discussion.

It remains to be seen if Paxton Lynch can carve out a career in the NFL or will be another, very tall, bust at QB. What we do know however is that Chad Kelly has played his way into the number two spot.

This is the best the Broncos have looked at QB in years.
