Broncos vs Texans Pre Game

This weeks game against the Texans is a monumental game. The Texans have won the last 5 games and they are facing a Broncos team who is only 3-5 this season. In addition to that, this is Demaryius Thomas’s first game in Denver as a Texan. Earlier this week the Broncos traded Thomas to the Texans in return for a 4th round pick. I fully expect Thomas to get a standing ovation when he takes the field.

Despite all this, the Broncos need to keep it strictly business and get to work to improve their losing record. The Broncos have played the Texans only 6 times. Head to head Denver has a 4-2 winning record. The last time these two teams met up the Broncos won in Denver 27-9.  This was back in October of 2016. The Texans are on a hot streak and are helmed by a great young quarterback in Deshaun Watson. Can Denver take them down in Mile High?

This game will be interesting because Courtland Sutton steps up into a much larger role beside Emmanuel Sanders. On the bright side, both receivers have chemistry with quarterback Case Keenum. With reports that the Texans secondary has been hit with injuries, the receiving corp should have a chance to put up some significant points on the board. However, the offensive line will still have to deal with stars JJ Watt and Jedaveon Clowney attacking. On the ground, the ball will be taken primarily by Phillip Lindsay who’s been lightning in a bottle this season. Royce Freeman has been dealing with an ankle injury and will be a game-time decision. Devontae Booker could be the one to share the workload with Lindsay.

On Defense, the team will have its hands full. They are going against not just a talented young quarterback, but they are also going against receivers DeAndre Hopkins and now ex-Bronco Demaryius Thomas. There are reports that Chris Harris will cover Thomas during the game. Von Miller and the rest of the pass rushers will have to contain Watson who can not only throw the ball but also make teams pay with his legs as well. As much as it would be great for Denver to pull out a win in this game, I predict the Broncos will lose to the Texans 30-10. Kickoff is set for 2:05 pm MT in Denver CO.

Until next time, Keep Calm and Bronco On!

My passion is the NFL. Particularly the Denver Broncos. I was born into a Broncos family and have followed them since I was 3 years old when I met John Elway. I have made football and the Broncos a large part of my life. I love everything about the game.
