Week 5 of the 2017 NFL Season is here in full force. It’s game day! Injuries are as much a part of the NFL as sacks or touchdown passes. It’s a rare game indeed that goes by without a few players hitting the teams injury report the next day. Here we take a look at the more notable instances and offer some insight on the impact.
QB Derek Carr, Oakland Raiders – Carr has thrown consecutive days in practice and is listed as questionable. As Carr’s health goes, so go the Raiders.
LB Sean Lee, Dallas Cowboys – The team is calling it a “game time decision” and he will probably trot out and test it, however after not practicing all week it looks grim for Lee and the Dallas D which tends to fall apart without it’s field general. Aaron Rodgers could have a HUGE day. Fellow hamstringee LT Tyron Smith is projected to play.
CB Josh Norman, Washington – Out 4 weeks and the club could be looking at a losing streak as teams pounce on a defense that, like the Cowboys with Sean Lee, struggles without their best player on the field.
QB Marcus Mariota, Tennessee Titans – Matt Cassel is reportedly the man under center today for the Titans as Mariota’s hamstring hasn’t improved enough. OUCH. If the ‘Phins can stop the running game it’s going to be a long day. If. The good news is the Titans don’t have to start Jay Cutler.
WR John Brown & J.J. Nelson, Arizona Cardinals – Both men are listed as “questionable” for the day leaving Larry Fitzgerald as the only guy left to cover. He’s still Larry Fitzgerald and should have a huge day.
OG Kyle Fuller, Houston Texans – After not practicing all week Kyle is listed as “out” for the matchup against the Chiefs. Not good news for rookie QB Watson or the Texans’ running game.
OC Mitch Morse, Kansas City Chiefs – Morse has a bad foot and will not play versus the Texans. That could be a HUGE problem facing the Texans’ defensive front seven which is one of the nastiest in the NFL.
DE Kony Ealy, New York Jets – His shoulder will keep him out of today’s game against the Raiders. That’s not a good thing at all for the Jets’ running D. Look for a HUGE day by the Beast.
