Extra Points: Cowboys Beat Giants In Week 14
The Dallas Cowboys needed to win their last five games to have a chance to make the playoffs, they are now 2-0 to begin that quest. It was another fourth quarter where the Cowboys excelled and put away their opponent, no matter the competition, it was impressive.
Here are the extra points for week 14 for the Cowboys:
Dak Prescott: He seems to be getting back into a rhythm. After a few weeks where Prescott was getting beaten up and it looked like the hits took their toll on him, he has settled down again. His career high in passing yards yesterday might have been much higher if the receivers could’ve held onto some of those passes. Either way, Dak is playing good football again, and at just the right time.
Sean Lee: It’s not crazy to say that this man could be the defensive MVP of the league, he just means so much to this defense. He was a maniac yesterday, I saw people on social media marveling at his play, and I just thought, hey, that’s Sean Lee! They are just a different group when he’s out there and Dallas’ best chances are with him on the field.
Dez Bryant: We saw the yin and the yang of him yesterday, there were a few key drops, but also the big play ability from Dez. He’s still a force and commands respect by the defense, especially in the red zone, but he needs to be more consistent. Bryant cannot drop those passes down the stretch, these games are too important.
Jason Witten: The Senator might not be used as much in the passing game anymore and he may have lost a step, but he can still get open. His route on the touchdown yesterday was so damn good! It’s a reminder that he can still burn a defense when they forget about him. And he always kills the Giants, it’s funny to watch their fans get so annoyed by it. It’s the small things in life, friends.
La’el Collins: I thought he had a nice game yesterday, facing two top tier pass rushers. Collins has played well in the last few weeks, going up against some tough competition. Collins is getting better as the season goes on.
Dan Bailey: Not sure what happened to Mr. Automatic yesterday, but I’m guessing it was a fluke performance. Bailey hit the 53-yard attempt well, it just went off the upright, the second miss seems like a typical MetLife/Giants Stadium kick with tough winds, but the extra point miss was extremely troubling. That was his first career extra point miss. Hopefully he’ll get back on track this week, he should be fine.
Young secondary: Chidobe Awuzie, Jourdan Lewis and Xavier Woods all played well in their first start together. In total they had 13 tackles, six passes defensed, a tackle for a loss (Woods) and Awuzie’s deflection was the reason for Lee’s interception. It was an impressive showing for the rookies, who give the Cowboys a bright future in the secondary.
Adjustments: Are there people still complaining about the coaching staff’s second half adjustments? In the last two games, the Cowboys’ defense has allowed just seven points after shutting out the Giants in the last 30 minutes yesterday. In the second halves of the last two games: 13 drives, eight punts, seven points allowed, three interceptions and a sack. On offense, Dallas has outscored their last two opponents 41-7 in the second halves.
