It’s official. On Wednesday the Giants Jason Pierre-Paul had surgery to repair a sports-hernia injury. The surgery and rehab is reportedly a six week gig. In a make-it-or-break-it season for New York Giants GM Jerry Reese this is bad news for a team coming off a tough loss and facing a 10 win Cowboys team coming off a 10 day rest. Bad news indeed.
The Giants are still sitting in a great position for either an NFC East title (long shot) or a NFC Wild Card berth which they had a very good shot at, until perhaps now. The GMen have been winning with defense. They signed a ton of talent on that side of the ball this offseason and unlike many an attmpt at using free agency as a cure for what ails ya the players on the whole have been producing. Fellow defensive end Olivier Vernon has been the standout of the lot but will now have his hands full as teams can focus on him not having to worry about JPP.

The Giants running game is “kind of” there, the defense has been rounding into form and Eli Manning is hot/cold which is the norm. In a rough 2016 campaign Big Blue needs some good news. They can make their own in New York this Sunday versus the Cowboys.
