Adrian Colbert NFL Draft Profile

Adrian Colbert

Adrian Colbert – Cornerback/Safety – Miami

Height – 6’0

Weight – 213 pounds

Strengths:

The first thing you notice when watching Adrian on film is his ideal size. At 6’0, 213 pounds Colbert is tall but fills his tall frame out well. Colbert has the ability to play as that “downhill” type of safety, but can cover as well. Colbert is running his 40 yard dash right around a 4.30 so he is flying for his size. Colbert doesn’t mind hitting in the open field showing multiple big hits on backs in the flat, wide receiver screens, and plays coming across the middle. Colbert has the ability to wrap up and make the easy clean tackle or lower his shoulder and hurt you. Colbert was a main contributor on special teams at both Miami and Texas. Colbert can play in the slot, cover the tight end, or play the box safety position. The former Longhorn and Hurricane offers a impressive amount of versatility that should allow him to get drafted in the later rounds.

Weaknesses:

Colbert is a bigger guy so plays with tight hips. You’ll see when he has to back peddle and change directions that there is sometimes hiccups in his footwork or transition. Angles need work as he often breakdowns to early allowing the ball carrier to set him up and make a move. Injuries slowed his Senior year at Miami after breaking his arm in the 4th quarter of the Notre Dame game.
