NFL Draft Rumors – Mid Day Update

Just got off the phone with Raf who has been on the phone all morning doing the pre-draft confab thing. He came up with quite a few tidbits of NFL Draft rumors that affect the Cowboys. In no particular order.

NFL Draft Rumors

  • Aaron Donald won’t make it out of the top 10. He is every teams fall back option.
  • If the Rams deal down, Donald is their target.
  • Sammy Watkins won’t make it out of the top four.
  • Four of the top ten picks will be offensive tackles.
  • Eagles want a WR and will target Evans.
  • Giants want Donald but don’t believe they will get a chance to pick him.
  • Bronco’s are willing to trade mid round picks to get a shot at C.J. Mosley.
  • Hageman will be the first 3 – 4 DT off the board.
  • No team is buying Mettenberger’s alibi in regards to his combine test. He is falling.
  • Offensive linemen Trai Turner (LSU) is now a second rounder and possibly a top 40 pick.

Check back here throughout the day and throughout the draft for more updates.

All our Pet cats may be gone so if Kyle Fuller is there may be BPA, If Beckham there speed we need ,If Marqise Lee is there before the injury he was 1a w/ Watkins( check Maylocks 1st WR Rankings), Justin Gilbert can cover & return punts or just reach 4 Kony & Timmy.

My list of 1st round players that I think offer decent to great value at pick 16… Let me know what you think please
    1) S Calvin Pryor (Best safety in draft, lays the wood, lots of range and great ball skills)

    1) DT Aaron Donald (Best 3-tech in draft)

    1) Khalil Mack (OLB or OE) (An absolute star, elite talent)

    1) Anthony Barr (OLB or OE) (Needs more coaching, converted offensive player, can really rush quarterback, develop into great open end, very tall at 6’5″ and could probably gain some weight)

    1) OT Jake Matthews (a top 3 tackle)
    1) OT Greg Robinson (Top tackle)
    1) OT Taylor Lewan (a top 3 tackle)

    1) TE Eric Ebron (A Vernon Davis type. Needs to develop blocking. A great player to fall to Dallas because teams would get into a bidding war for him. With Escobar and Hannah already serving as backups, I don’t see Dallas taking a guy like this unless they trade away one of their current TEs)

    2) WR Sammy Watkins
    2) WR Mike Davis

    3) WR Odell Beckham Jr. (Very quick WR, a little thin, good hands, goes up and gets jump ball. Times jump well. Will break tacklers down in return game, not the best tackle-breaker but he’s a burner. Would give Dallas an excellent 3rd receiver.)

    2) DE Kony Ealy (a solid player, not a dominant one, good 4-3 fit, probably a starting left end 6 sack a year guy, Maybe a 3-tech, sort of raw, maybe Rod can bring out a more refined game)
    2) DT Ra’Shede Hageman (1 or 3 tech, maybe even versatile enough to fill in at either end spot in a pinch. Big tall build like Hatcher, needs to learn to stay low and shoot the gaps when he’s tired. Sometimes explodes upfield and misses run play read, others he doesn’t seem to use pass rush moves but is lookin for run. I think he’d be a very good addition to the Dallas line.)

    3) DT Timmy Jernigan (pressure 1 tech, commands double teams due to his strength, not much of a pressure guy, would make a good 1-tech.. not sure if that’s worth it for Dallas at 16, especially with increased preference given to Rod this draft)

    3) OT Zach Martin (Play at guard)(Very safe pick, plug in starter for 10 years on the offensive line, maybe trade back for him)

      Numbers indicate my personal preference

Sweet list – I would move Watkins to the top, Pryor to the bottom and Martin above Kony. Regardless of the order you have a ton of talent on your list.

I can definitely see the arguments for each of those list changes. I am not sure Hageman fits the RKOG mantra. He sure looks versatile and disruptive though.
