Cowboys Draft Quick Take – Part II – Seventh Round

The seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft has come and gone. I used the word “epic” in Part I of this piece when referring to the seventh round and I wasn’t disappointed.

Cowboys 2014 Draft Quick Take

  • DE Ben Gardner – Man child. 6’4″ 262 lbs, quick and strong. RKOG. Excellent motor. Think Anthony Spencer with a bit more jump.
  • LB Will Smith – 6’2″ 231 lbs, 9’5″ broad jump and excellent shuttle times. RKOG, special teams for certain and can compete at the Will (of course).
  • S Ahmad Dixon – 6′ 212 lbs in the box safety. Special teams and if he can learn to cover could start one day.
  • DT Ken Bishop – 6′ 301 lbs tree trunk who instantly upgrades our goal line defense.  RKOG 1 Tech or bust. Will stop the run. Marinelli magic?
  • CB Terrance Mitchell – An awesome pick, the 5’11” 192 lbs CB timed out slow in the 40 and probably had issues with the mandated “combine start” as his 3 cone and shuttle times were combine best at his position. He is quick as a snake and can ball as he has “playmaker” label. Needs strength. That gets worked out we have a keeper.

The UDFA melee is going on right now. The talent pool is still HUGE. Watch here for updates.

Individual, in-depth profiles will be posted over the ensuing days. Check back often for the best on the web for all things Dallas Cowboys!
