Tall, strong, long and quicker than an adder on acid, the Cowboys Randy Gregory is BACK!
Randy Gregory himself broke the news in a sly way via Twitter:

It’s not a complete “done deal” yet, but what is left should be mere formalities. Per NFL.com “Gregory is allowed to join the Cowboys at training camp and participate in meetings, conditioning work and similar activities, but is not permitted to participate in practices and games until the league can confirm Gregory is complying with the terms of his reinstatement. This includes confirming arrangements regarding Gregory’s clinical resources in Dallas.”
What this means in layman’s terms is until Gregory has his support and testing team in place and approved by the NFL he can do everything BUT practice with the team or play in a game. Yes, I know, total whack but Goodell really likes to keep his perception of control tightly held.
It’s called a tentative reinstatement, which is funny because once you’ve been suspended all reinstatements are tentative as the league is looking hard at you and ready to send you packing if you stumble. So call it what you will, after early failures Gregory has proven he now has the mental tenacity to handle such things with aplomb.
The 2015 second round pick has loads of talent but will be quite rusty and to be frank hasn’t made the NFL leap yet. He is still a work in progress. Yes, he still has that incredible 1st step they can’t really teach and will only be 26 years old this season. The extra time should have helped him develop NFL level strength which is an issue with most new players. Gregory has been training hard with former Raiders DE Greg Townsend 3-4 times a week and should be locked and loaded for the NFL game.
It’s exciting times for defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli who has the deepest defensive line rotation he has ever had while at Big D. Not too long ago he was literally working with talent off the streets (remember George Selvie?) and somehow making it work. The club may have issues at DT this offseason due to injury and suspension but they are WAAAAY deep at DE now that Gregory is back.
Third and long, Lawrence on one side, Gregory on the other, Malik Collins and Irving in the middle. That is pressure coming at the QB from every angle and the boys can even send LVE or Jaylon Smith as extra pressure. OUCH!
Welcome back, Mr. Gregory. May your stay be long and fruitful.
