Even though Saquon Barkley has not even played a down in the NFL there are some rumblings that the Giants should have used the number 2 pick differently. Some believe that Sam Darnold, the quarterback selected by the Jets would be the breakout star of the 2018 draft class. With the trading of Jason Pierre-Paul, an argument could have been made that Big Blue should have selected Bradley Chubb. Others feel that the G-Men should have just traded the number 2 pick and get as many players as possible.
However, there is one pick that many fans are glad that was made by David Gettleman and company and that is offensive guard Will Hernandez. One reason that the Big Blue faithful approved of the pick of Hernandez is that it addresses the primary need of the Giants at offensive line. It has been well documented that the offensive line needs to be upgraded and Hernandez is one selection that addresses the dire need.
The second reason why people like the Hernandez pick is that Hernandez will bolster the ground attack of the G-Men. Along with the offensive line woes, the Giants rushing game has also struggled.
