Concussion Protocol for Panthers LB Luke Kuechly
In last nights 28-23 loss to the Eagles, Panthers LB Luke Kuechly received another concussion while trying to defend a play in the red zone just before half time.
Philly was in a single back set from the five yard line with 5:12 left in the first half. The RB ran between the right guard and center with Kuechly slanting in hard from the off side. The Eagles had a the guard pulling to the back side just for this reason and he and Luke collided at full speed as he leveraged his shoulder into Kuehcley snapping his head back and then punching him to the ground finishing the block.
This will be the Panthers third concussion in three years and especially at his position and with his play style this has to be cause for concern.
In the short term the Panthers have their defensive field general sitting on the sidelines as he goes through the protocol which is an open ended process as each concussion is it’s own unique animal.
It would be a huge blow to Carolina’s aspirations for the 2017 season if the LB can’t quickly return to the field.
