Rams vs Packers – Week 8

The Los Angeles Rams look to keep their undefeated season going this week against the Green Bay Packers. The Packers have struggled this season so far mostly due to injuries and Aaron Rodgers getting hurt in week one. Rams are a 4.5 favorite at home, which is pretty low against this Packers’ defense. Green Bay has owned LA over the years, winning 5 straight meetings between the two. This season is different with the way QB Jared Goff has been playing at such an elite level and becoming the leader this team needed.

“He’s clearly taken a huge step,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. “He’s coming off a big year last year and it looks like he’s picked up right where he left off. They’re putting up huge numbers offensively and he’s playing very well.”(source:espn.com)

Head Coach Mike McCarthy knows how improved Jared Goff is this year and their defense is in for a long day. Playing at an MVP level is something a lot of coaches around the league are talking about. Goff QBR is 79.1 and has over 2,000 passing yards already on the season. His accuracy is something Head Coach Sean McVay couldn’t stop praising during interviews this week.

“He’s throwing the ball extremely accurate, giving guys a chance to run after the catch,” Rams coach Sean McVay said. “Clearly he’s a very talented thrower of the football that can change his arm angle, but I just think the way that he’s throwing the football consistently with accuracy, giving guys the chance and then obviously the deep ball has been real positive, too, and he’s been able to hit on a handful of those when he’s taken shots down the field.”(http://www.espn.com/blog/los-angeles-rams/post/_/id/39179/jared-goff-creeping-into-mvp-discussion)

Aaron Donald will get the test of the season by facing the NFL’s best QB in Aaron Rodgers. Although Rodgers has been injured since week one, he is still one of the leagues deadliest passers in the game. The Rams defense has been somewhat weak against the run and will need to improve that facing a mobile QB like Rodgers.  DT Suh knows how difficult it can be playing against this type of quarterback.

“He’s very active as a quarterback, especially pushing the ball down the field,” Suh said. “I think they’re both elite quarterbacks, but I have a little bit more respect for Aaron.”(source:usatoday.com)

The City of Champions’ team is playing at such an elite level at times it can be scary. They have one of the greatest running backs in the last decade in Todd Gurley. Gurley leads the league in rushing yards and touchdowns by a large margin. He has more touchdowns than the entire Bills team and is on pace for possibly 30 total on the season. So players are great others are GOATS.
