Fitzpatrick checks all of the boxes when it comes to what there is to like about his game. He has the motor, speed, size, and versatility to make an immediate impact in the NFL. He started his career at Alabama as a freshman corner and earned Freshman All-American honors before moving to safety his junior and senior seasons and the awards kept coming in. Fitzpatrick is a sure tackler, but not the thudding in the box safety that struggles in pass coverage, his excellent cover skills break him out of that mold. He has shown effectiveness in coverage, tackling in the run game, forcing turnovers, rushing the passer and in special teams, there is nothing Fitzpatrick can’t do from his position on the field.
None. My only fear is that with his “all-out” style of play, can Fitzpatrick’s body hold up to the pounding at the NFL level.
I see Fitzpatrick as one of the top two defensive backs taken in the draft and definitely the first safety. Given his ability to line up in all phases of special teams adds to his already high value to a team. The kind of player that you must find a spot on the field for from day one.
A top-five pick.
