Micky Mac Jets Out of New York

The New York Jets had a typical Jets day when they announced they fired GM Mike Maccagnan. Head coach Adam Gase will be the acting GM until a replacement is found.

Micky Mac did bring talent to the club. There is no denying that. However, his choice of head coach (Todd Bowles) and head-scratching personnel moves makes it easy to understand why the move was made. What is not clear is the timing. but hey, it’s the Jets. Why not let the guy you are going to fire have one last shot at another dysfunctional draft? The brutal part is this makes total sense if you are a long-suffering Jets fan. Or at least you’re not surprised to hear it.

If Gase was going to get a fair shake in New York this move needed to be made. It needs to be followed up with the hiring of a vested GM that can work with Gase. The sooner, the better.
