Training Room: Fantasy Football Injury Updates – Week 14

This entry is part 13 of 13 in the series Fantasy Football: Training Room

I hope that your respective Thanksgivings were awesome and that your family wasn’t too crazy. I was in Florida and that was awesome, warm and didn’t have snow. Oh well, back to reality. It’s the Fantasy Playoffs baby!!! I hope that as you are reading this it’s with glorious anticipation for the playoffs starting, and maybe because of too much sugar. OKAY! I’ll stop. With that, let’s get to the injuries.

Cam Newton, QB, CAR – Cam has a shoulder issue and I don’t like that he tossed four interceptions last week against TAMPA! Watch this one, but I wouldn’t mind going to the waivers for a backup plan. Josh Allen, Baker Mayfield, or Dak Prescott would be nice secondary plans.

Mitchell Trubisky, QB, CHI – He is practicing in full! As an Anthony Miller and Burton owner, I am thrilled. As long as he practices the rest of the week in full start him.

James Conner, RB, PIT – Is it a leg or an ankle?!?! It sucks that what it is. If you missed Jaylen Samuels go look at Steven Ridley. In two weeks they are playing New England. Ridley revenge game? Let’s hope for the best but expect the worst.

Melvin Gordon, RB, LAC – This is a fun one, NOT! I don’t expect Gordon this week and if they keep winning why rush him back? Get Justin Jackson and Ekeler if possible, and lean on Jackson first especially this week against Cincinnati.

Kerryon Johnson, RB, DET – Why are injuries so painful? Pun. Go grab Blount for one more week, with the notion that Johnson could be done for the year. Why would Detroit bring him back? Blount has a nice matchup this week against the Cardinals.

Chris Carson, RB, SEA – He gets a bad matchup and has a broken finger. I like my fingers and would probably limp if I broke one. I would sit Carson and play Justin Jackson or another waiver wire back this week.

Matt Breida, RB, SF – He is human after all. Give him credit, the man has guts. This week we get something called Jeff Wilson JR. and it appears JR. can handle the workload. If you were lucky enough to get him, roll him out as a decent RB2.

A.J. Green, WR, CIN – Shall we all cry together? Green is on IR and done for the year with a toe. John Ross and Tyler Boyd are the next players up but with Dalton done are we trusting these guys? I am not going to trust them with my fantasy championship on the line. Look to the waiver wire for Adam Humphries or Curtis Samuel.

DeSean Jackson, WR, CIN – There is wide speculation that Jackson will be put on the shelf for the rest of the season with a thumb. Chris Godwin and Adam Humphries will step up more for the Bucs and possibly Brate.

Sterling Shepard, WR, NYG – He is practicing in a limited way, so he could play. Even if his ribs were good, I would still look elsewhere and possibly even drop Shepard. *See Adam Humphries or the waivers!

Sammy Watkins, WR, KC

Greg Olsen, TE, CAR – On IR and done for the season. Look for Matt LaCosse on waivers if nothing else is available and you need a TE now.

Evan Engram, TE, NYG – Are hamstrings necessary? They are? Fine. Engram is practicing in a limited fashion but I would not start him right away if he suits up this week. Look elsewhere on the bench or on waivers. Matt LaCosse should be available.

Thanks for stopping by, please share with your friends and your Grandma.

Until next time,
