Cowboys Best 5 Players

The Cowboys have a young and talented team with star power at many positions. Coming off a 10 win season and a playoff victory, the roster is deep. Question is, who are the best 5 players on the Dallas Cowboys?

5. Leighton Vander Esch

Vander Esch is a budding star at linebacker. Cowboy fans were scratching their heads when he was taken in the first round of the draft last year at number 19 overall. 140 tackles later nobody is second guessing taking the young buck from Boise State.

The Wolf Hunter is a big body at linebacker going 6’4, 256. Not only was he a tackling machine, but he was also credited with 7 pass breakups and 2 int’s. Pro Football Focus gave Vander Esch the 4th highest grade for linebackers with an 85.7.

After a stellar rookie season, the sky is the limit in year two for this cornerstone of the defense.

4. Tyron Smith

Smith is still one of the best left tackles in the league. While he has missed some time due to injury, he still started 13 games and made his 6th straight Pro Bowl.

Left tackle is a premium position in the NFL, and when Smith isn’t in the lineup the offense has struggled. Smith can get movement in the ground game for Zeke and keep pass rushers from getting to Dak. Still somehow only 28, he is right there with the elite tackles in the league.

3. Ezekiel Elliott

Zeke has led the league in rushing in two of his 3 professional seasons. He might be 3 for 3 if not for a suspect suspension in 2017. Last season he led the league again, racking up 1,434 yards at 4.7 per clip.

In 2018 Zeke showed off his passing game chops, catching a career-high 77 balls for 567 yards. The former 4th overall pick in the draft showed good route running ability and soft hands as a true threat out of the backfield.

The offense runs through Zeke, as he looks for another rushing title in 2019.

2. DeMarcus Lawrence

Demarcus Lawrence gives opposing offensive tackles all they can handle. Rushing the passer is at a premium in the NFL and Tank flat out gets it done. With his ability to bend and get around the edge he can dominate a game and wreak havoc on opposing offenses.

Last year Tank had 64 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss, 23 QB hits, and 10.5 sacks. He did all that with a torn labrum in his shoulder that he played through. Not only does he get it done in the passing game, but he can also set the edge in the run game and can manhandle even the best offensive tackles.

This War Daddy got paid for a reason, because he is one of the best in the business.

1. Zack Martin

Zack Martin is nearly a perfect player and as consistent as they come. He finally missed the first game of his stellar career proving that he is in fact human. The man has made the Pro Bowl every year he has played and also has 3 First Team All-Pro selections.

Martin a mauler in the run game and displays the feet of a dancing bear in the passing game. When Zeke breaks a long one, check out the replay and Martin is opening a hole your sister’s kids could run through. Last season he was Pro Football Focus’ 2nd highest graded guard with a 78.6

The Cowboys have had some great offensive lineman, and Martin has a chance to have the greatest career of all of them. With a few more years of dominating play, he could end up in Canton one day.

The guys just missing out in the top 5 are Jaylon Smith, Byron Jones, and Amari Cooper. Travis Frederick could also be an option but he missed all of last season and while he is expected to play, who knows how well he will perform.

That’s my Cowboys Top 5 players, who’re your top 5 Cowboys fans?
