49ers Training Camp: Questions to Remember

49ers Training Camp: Starts July 26th

In a couple of days, it will be July. With July we have Independence Day filled with family time, grilling, swimming, and fireworks. We have temperatures that rival hades and of course NFL training camp. The 49ers training camp will start on the 26th with their first practice starting on Saturday the 27th. The team will have their first padded practice the following Monday on the 29th.

Jimmy Garoppolo

There are a few questions to keep in mind as training camp approaches. First of how is the knee for Jimmy Garoppolo? We saw him supporting a brace during OTAs after suffering his ACL injury in Week 3 of last season. How is his mobility in the pocket, how does he look when he plants his feet? This is a big year for Garoppolo and company to prove he truly is the guy.

Jerick McKinnon

The second is just like the first, how is the knee of Jerick McKinnon? It was about 10 months ago when McKinnon suffered his ACL injury that started the derailing of the 49ers last season. Does he still have the same burst of speed and how do his cuts look? I still believe in McKinnon that he can be the starter for the Red and Gold. And the running back position was such a revolving door last year it would be nice to see some stability.

Nick Bosa

The 49ers drafted Nick Bosa with the second overall pick in this year’s draft in the hope of finally getting a pass rush. But earlier in the offseason Bosa suffered a hamstring injury and he was shut down to heal. How much will he be utilized in training camp? Is he healthy enough to participate at all and will this have last effects into his rookie season? We’ve already seen one team lose their first-round pick to injury, the 49ers do not want to be another.

49ers Defense

And finally, how does the defense as a whole look with the upgraded defensive line? Are they getting the much-needed pass rush they desperately lacked last season? Has it helped on the backend of the defense not leaving wide receivers wide open because quarterbacks had all day to throw the ball?

In mere weeks we will have training camp, preseason and the finally the start of the 2019 NFL season. It will be here before you know it and good luck to everyone and the teams you root for unless they are Seachickens or the Patriots because those teams suck.

If it ain’t football news, is it worth reading?
