Dez Bryant Signs With New Orleans Saints

Former Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant has signed with the New Orleans Saints.

The man stated from the beginning he was going to wait for the right fit. It seems he has finally found it in time for Week 10 of the 2018 NFL Season.

In a rather unique twist, Dez himself confirmed the news via retweeting the report from Ian Rapoport of the Rap Sheet.

Let me be clear. I believe this is a fantastic signing by the Saints. Romo to Dez worked because Romo could “throw a guy open.” He was extremely accurate, could make quick decisions, had a nice arm and would give his WR’s time to get open by extending plays. He would often devolve into street-ball style play waiting for one of his guys to get open then throw him a strike.

Dez excels at this style of play. He doesn’t run great routes. He barely runs “ok” ones. There are only a (very) few QB’s in the league that have similar qualities on game day as Romo. Unless Dez hooked up with one of them it was not going to be a very good marriage and the league was/is fully aware of that.

Let’s cut to the chase. Rather than name a list of QB’s Dez would mesh well with, let’s just start with Drew Brees and a resounding “hell yes” in regards to his abilities and Dez Bryant’s working out. Brees is a quintessential street-ball QB and to be frank, I can not think of a better location for Bryant to have ended up.

Fit is as important as opportunity. Bryant, the Saints, Drew Brees, and Sean Payton equates to a smooth, Italian leather glove on a crisp, fall afternoon. A perfect fit. Can’t wait to see them on game day.
