LA Rams – Ghost of Jeff Fisher is Exorcised

Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher – 31 wins 48 losses 39% winning percentage

  • 2012 – 7 wins 8 losses 1 tie
  • 2013 – 7 wins 9 losses
  • 2014 – 6 wins 10 losses
  • 2015 – 7 wins 9 losses
  • 2016 – 4 wins 12 losses

That is freaking brutal. In a “Major League” move the team returned to Los Angeles after seemingly forcing their team record (and attendance) into the tank at St. Louis. It’s fairly clear what the organization was thinking in keeping Fisher on so long, he was the guy that would tank the team and get them to LA all the while taking “one for the team” in exchange for millions of dollars in compensation.

Fisher played his part to perfection but then the Rams front office did something totally unexpected. They hired one damn good head coach in Sean McVay and handed him the keys to the car.

  • 2017 – 11 wins 5 losses and a trip to the playoffs

Bottom line, long-suffering fans who had to deal with offseason hangovers every year are now, for the first time in a very long time, able to keep their heads up at the water coolers, turn right to the sports section when they pick up a newspaper and even throw on some team gear if they head to the beach or a movie. They can even watch Sports Center every week without fear of ruining their beer.

The LA Rams are a real NFL franchise now, a joke no longer and are favored to win their division. Yes Rams fans, you read that correctly. It’s not a reprint from the late 90’s. Your team is a Super Bowl contender.

That Jeff Fisher hangover seems so long ago.
