The Bears Filling Out Roster
We have signed OL Ted Larsen to a one-year contract.
Ted Larsen returns to the Windy City after a two-year hiatus. He recently agreed to a one-year deal after being cut by the Dolphins. He started 21 of 23 games for Miami including the overtime win over the Bears in Week 6. He was originally drafted by New England in the sixth-round of the 2010 draft out of North Carolina State. In 2016, he filled in for oft-injured Kyle Long at right guard. The 31-year-old will provide necessary depth to a strong o-line in Chicago.
We have tendered contracts to OL Rashaad Coward, OLB Isaiah Irving and DE Roy Robertson-Harris.
We have also released Cody Parkey.
The Bears have re-signed three Exclusive Rights Free Agents (ERFA) Isaiah Irving, Roy Robertson-Harris (RRH), and Rashaad Coward. ERFA’s are not at liberty to negotiate with other teams.
RRH is a former undrafted free agent (UDFA) out of UTEP. Since his arrival, RRH has thrived on limited opportunities after making the switch from outside linebacker to defensive end. This past season, he was a valuable rotational player on the d-line who contributed 22 tackles, 3 sacks, and 2 pass deflections.
Irving is another UDFA out of San Jose State. He is currently the No. 3 outside linebacker behind starters Khalil Mack and Leonard Floyd. Last season he appeared in 13 games amassing 8 tackles and a sack in limited playing time.
Coward is another UDFA out of Old Dominion. Originally signed as a nose tackle, he made the switch to offensive tackle last season. Last preseason he made a big enough impression on the new coaching staff to remain on the practice squad. He adds versatility along a very good offensive line.
The Bears chose not to tender restricted free agents DeAndre Houston-Carson and Patrick Scales. Add defensive back and long snapper to a short list of needs this off-season.
Chicago continues to add depth to one of the strongest rosters in the NFC. Stay tuned throughout the new League year for more updates.
Until then, stay thirsty and BEAR DOWN! JT out.
