Not so long ago the public learned that Steve Harper, former goalkeeper of soccer club “Newcastle”, suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage. Harper’s achievements 

Harper at that time was 48 years old, and all his life the footballer faithfully “served” his cause, on his account about 200 matches for his soccer club, and now he also held the post of director of the academy “Magpies”. Harper is considered one of Newcastle’s longest-serving footballers, and to be more precise, he played for the team from 1993 to 2013.

Harper’s journey 

The footballer had come a long way before joining his dream team in 1998: he had previously been seen at Bradford City, Gateshead, Stockport County, Hartlepool United and Huddersfield Town. During his career at St. James’ Park, he has had 66 dry matches, including 112 matches in the top division, and has shown what he is capable of. It was also previously said that the player played for the Magpies in the Champions League in the 2002-2003 season and left the club in 2013, moving to Hull City. A move to Sunderland followed in 2016 before he returned to rival Newcastle United as goalkeeping academy coach. Three years later, Harper moved to the Northern Ireland national team before taking over as Newcastle’s academy director in 2021.
